Worldwide Helpers is a groundbreaking online community that aims to foster interaction between volunteers and charitable organisations around the world by offering volunteers free access to global low cost / no-cost volunteering opportunities.

After refreshing the brand, we created the WWH platform with a full suite of digital community features and functionality that allow volunteers and organisations to interact, share knowledge and experience, to learn from and inspire each other.

Users can create profiles, projects, blogs, albums, events, causes, forums, message each other and find travel companions. A classified section offers volunteers and charities to sell / request goods while the WWH shop provides exclusive offers to the community.

The whole platform is run on an integrated system that will capture data to be used for greater understanding of where help is needed most.


Pelime is an invitation-only online community and commercial network designed and built for elite creative professionals, to provide them with a platform to curate their work and collaborate with other like-minds, a hub for industry news and events, build professional relationships and sell their works.

Katana worked with Pelime to develop the commercial strategy for the proposition, which included ecommerce platforms for members to sell their wares and an “academy” where non-members can pay for limited access to the site and creative mentors, before concentrating on the design and development of its beautiful User Interface and compelling features and functionality.

As an invitation-only platform, users were provided with invitation rights and the ability to earn additional slots.

Pelime was the first online community to be designed and built entirely in Flex and quickly grew to 3,000 members showcasing over 20,000 works until the issues with Flash dramatically slowed down usage.

Foodcare Direct

Foodcare is a leading distributor of catering equipment to the UK’s National Health Service, Universities and trade with a catalogue of 10,000 products.

Katana was engaged to create a modern, SEO friendly and robust eCommerce platform capable of expressing the multitude of products and product categories to clients without generating confusion. The platform is to also cater for a growing emphasis on mass market retail sales.

A family business, Foodcare was firmly esconsed in a manual, offline order management process largely driven by an institutional client base such as the National Health Service and multiple suppliers.

A clean and visual online store with clear and consistent product categorisation, multiple internal marketing channels, coupled with a robust backend system. A client account section enabling wishlists and request for proposals (RFP) was created to service institutional clients requiring a more manual process to assist and encourage their gradual migration to online ordering.

Social media integration and an inspirations section was provided to service retail interaction and sales.


Founded in 1996 by former University of Maryland football player Kevin Plank, Under Armour is the originator of performance apparel – gear engineered to keep athletes cool, dry and light throughout the course of a game, practice or workout.

Katana helped UA concept and launch a compelling and successful sales campaign for their new Catalyst product – An Insanely Comfortable, Fast-drying, made from recycled plastic bottles T-shirt.

The campaign focused on the individual athlete performer, making the user the catalyst in their own sporting evolution.

Parkview Green

Parkview Green is the Beijing “jewel in the crown” of Hong Kong Parkview International, erstwhile owners of Battersea Power Station, London. Parkview Green is the leading mixed-use and greenest luxury development in Beijing, awarded LEED Platinum status.

We created a fully integrated solution for the building, its tenants and its shoppers, that marries its unique identity with the very latest technologies, that engages all its visitors in a constant dialogue, and created a class-leading customer service proposition.

The new ecosystem we created includes website, content management systems, mobile apps, online advertising system, member rewards, social media, games, concierge, personal shopping, tenant services, online community, delivered through an “omnichannel” platform under constant improvement.

Work includes through-the-line brand, digital and print communications.

Arsenal China Tour

Arsenal Football Club is an English Premier League football club based in London. One of the most successful clubs in English football, it has won 13 First Division and Premier League titles and 10 FA Cups.

The Arsenal Asia Tour is a fresh and exciting visual concept that incorporates traditional motifs in a modern and regional theme, creating a “Harmony Ball” by combining the potent and emblematic Chinese and Malaysian symbols of Dragon and Tiger, and communicating ‘Victory through Harmony’, the motto of Arsenal Football Club, to all who follow.

We developed the Arsenal Asia Tour identity and a supporting graphic system that would best articulate the Arsenal brand with visual appeal to the local market.

Research analysing traditional graphic elements informed the creative direction. The programme merges western culture with local tradition and establishes the footprint for Arsenal in the region.

Plenish Cleanse

Plenish Cleanse is a new entrant into the UK market offering organic juice cleansing packages delivered to your door.

We were engaged to design and develop the eCommerce platform. The main challenge was to be able to offer pre-defined packages of juices that worked as single products as well as ‘tasting flights’ that customers can create for themselves by selecting individual bottles.

The most important aspect of the Plenish Cleanse juices is their ingredients and a completely bespoke way of visually displaying all the juices and their ingredients that is freely editable by the admin was implemented.

The client also wanted a more flexible content management system that required the integration of WordPress with the Magento eCommerce platform.

Chucs Dive & Mountain Shop

A new luxury brand from London-based media industry player, Charles FInch. Drawing on a family heritage of explorers, scoundrels, actors and inventors, CHUCS aims to add a touch of old world glamour, style and elegance to leisure wear.

Katana was commissioned to create a stylish yet robust and scalable eCommerce platform allowing this start-up to generate global sales immediately upon launch.

With a fresh young team embarking into a new business vertical, requirements were changing almost daily for both the immediate launch an future direction demanding great flexibility in design and technology platform.

A simple yet contemporary design that allowed CHUCS to showcase their products and inject their sense of fun and adventure through their photography throughout the site. Magento was chosen as the eCommerce platform to provide robustness, scalability and integration with social media.

Gunners Gaming

Gunners Gaming is a new joint venture between Bettson and Arsenal Football Club offering an extended range of betting and gambling services.

We were asked to create a new identity for the service as well as in stadia marketing materials and branding.

The brandmark had to incorporate the guidelines of these two major and distinctive brands, while the marketing materials had to deliver a sense of matchday excitement and of course winning!

Wine Shop Asia – Hong Kong

Wine Shop Asia is a new eCommerce venture from the leading Wine & Spirits distributor in Hong Kong offering a wide range of Wines, Champagnes, Spirits and accessories to the Hong Kong and China market.

We were engaged to create the brand, design and develop the eCommerce platform.  The brand identity uses a clean serif font with an elegant brandmark featuring of course a wine glass and bottle, all presented in a rich burgundy.

The Wine Shop Asia online store features include browsing by multiple search criteria, a winery index, account login with full order history, wishlist and the ability to add personal wine notes to wines purchased.

The platform was built using the powerful Magento Enterprise version and included a variety of custom plug-ins and was set up in both English and Chinese language. A fully scaleable back-end offers the admin the ability to manage products, all aspects of the sales process, customer groups, edit site content, offers and promotions and much more.

FCancer Project

The FCancer Project is a skills-based online volunteering platform encouraging the younger generation to join the fight against cancer.

Many young people have been tragically affected by cancer in their families but often do not have the funds to make a substantial contribution. FCancer Project enables them to commit their skills, time and energy to the cause instead.

We were approached with an idea and were asked to help make it happen.

From concept development through detailed functional specifications, platform design and eventual technical build, we worked closely with the charity’s founders to realise their vision.

Charities can sign up and create projects detailing the skills they need while volunteers create a profile showcasing their skills. A matching engine delivers suitable matches to both parties and an integrated pledge and confirmation system allows charities to show progress and rewards volunteers for their efforts.
